Launching Server

  • Don't know if this is where I should ask, but I'm a wee bit stuck. I have everything installed correctly (I think) to run my own iteration of the server. I attempt to connect (after changing localhost to my ip and port) and get a 'contacting login server'. I've added a username and password. I 'feel' that I'm missing a final step in actually launching the database in pgAdmin. Appreciate it.

    you shouldnt change your IP in the cfg files. keep it with localhost or the 127.0.0.1

  • The information you gave me, of course, was dead-on. Thank you! I get an error saying my build isn't the same as the target. I build the database from the client files, but I think I did that wrong. I'm sorry I missed that link in the description. I think in my excitement I missed it. If I read this correctly, now:




      • Note: You will need to restore the database that you created using nge.backup in order to create the proper tables.
    • Extract the following contents of the sku's to a new clientdata folder in the holocore directory:

      • abstract
      • appearance
      • creation
      • customization
      • datatables
      • footprint
      • interiorlayout
      • misc
      • object
      • quest
      • snapshot
      • string
      • terrain

      would come from the backup files on the pgAdmin, correct? I am unable to find the location of these, it seems. I tried re-searching through my client folders, and an unable to locate many of these files. At the same time, it seems I had also been missing a login.cfg, which is odd, it normally was required... and I was still able to connect to your server fine. Again, really appreciate your help.

    I can't even connect to you guys now, however I can ping you.


    Extracted everything from the sku0_client.toc. Backed everything up again. added user.cfg file with the parameters:


    [ClientGame]
    loginServerAddress=127.0.0.1
    loginServerPort=44453
    skipIntro=1
    skipSplash=1


    (no such file existed previously) and ensured client.cfg included the user.cfg in said parameters:


    .include "login.cfg"
    .include "live.cfg"
    .include "preload.cfg"
    .include "options.cfg"
    .include "user.cfg"


    settings on the actual launcher are as follows:


    localhost
    127.0.0.1
    44453
    Ping times out.


    In pgAdmin > tables >galaxies

  • Local server. I was also trying to connect to your TC and was not getting in the login server. That fixed. Still hanging at contacting login server when trying to connect to my local.


    That last line meant to say


    "Fortunately, I can NOW connect to your test centre."

  • I took everything back to basics. Wiped absolutely everything, started over. I think I may have found a problem with the build due to the PEBCACK error you diagnosed earlier. Now the files are in there correctly (I'm certain this time): Trying it all over again

  • Will do! (See how much of a nub I am?) As soon as I get it up and running. I think I found another problem. The sku0_client.toc was connected to my previous private server for CORE3. I tore everything apart.... again, and starting from scratch. Hoping this helps alleviate some of the problems! Thanks for the advice and sorry to take so much of your time.

    you should use the sku0 file from the PSWG installation. that one is the latest version of it. do not use the one from swgemu that one only contains preCU data :D


    oh and dont forget to extract those folders from the other sku files too. but the biggest chunk is inside the 0 one

  • I'm sadly soo inept, I did not know said program existed. I launched it now... I'm sorry to ask, but can ya guide me through the steps, please? Just pretend I'm completely stupid (I am).
